Effects of feeding level and sexual maturation on expression of genes regulating growth mechanisms in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

چکیده

The energy and nutrient demands of sexual maturation in salmonids requires a shift from somatic growth to gonadal development, although loss skeletal muscle can be avoided with adequate nutrition. How availability or ration affects the endocrine factor systems that integrate partitioning, metabolism, during is poorly understood. Primary objectives current study were determine how affect expression estrogen receptors, components GH/IGF axis TGF? superfamily system, specific regulatory factors development female rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Female diploid approaching ovulation fed for 12 weeks at 0.25% 0.50% tank biomass, apparent satiation. Controls effects included sterile triploid two females failed undergo development. Expression era1 was increased maturing diploids suggesting an increase catabolic 17?-estradiol (E2) on muscle. In liver, era2 maturation, but all receptors higher rations improved E2 sensitivity vitellogenin production. Hepatic ghrs igfs generally reduced reduction systemic promotion. Increased capacity IGF signaling via igf1 igfr1b expression, potentially lessening circulating IGF-I growth. primary carrier IGFs, hepatic igfbp2b1, likely reducing activity, also elevated rations. All other binding proteins, except igfbp1, showed some several ration. igfbp6b1 suggests restricted myogenesis maturation. Reductions including pax7a, myog myf5, support unaffected by addition, mstn2a only myostatin gene affected ration, altered suggest may inhibit signaling. summary, moderate feeding appears counter many changes system associated perhaps altering regulation spare atrophy better prepare fish post-spawning recovery.

Ploidy effects on genes regulating growth mechanisms during fasting and refeeding in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

Diploid and triploid rainbow trout weighing approximately 3g were either fed for five weeks, or feed deprived for one week, followed by refeeding. During feed deprivation gastrointestinal somatic index decreased in diploids, but not triploids, and during refeeding, carcass growth rate recovered more quickly in triploids. Although not affected by ploidy, liver ghr2 and igfbp2b expression increas...

Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...

Effects of starvation and re-feeding on growth performance and blood plasma of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The mechanism of compensatory growth in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was studied in a completely randomized design with four experimental treatments and a control group (no food deprivation) with three replicates. Animals in treatments 1 to 4 were fed with rates of 0, 25, 50 and 75% saturation, respectively for two weeks. Then, the treatments were fed twice a day until saturation level f...

Effects of dietary selenomethionine on larval rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

Increased selenium (Se) concentrations in water (>10 microg/L) have been measured in the San Diego Creek, which is a tributary of the Upper Newport Bay in Orange County, CA. The objective of this study was to develop tissue- and dietary-based thresholds for Se in resident fish species in San Diego Creek. A 90-day dietary experiment was conducted to determine the effects of seleno-L-methionine (...
